Daniel 1:1-7

Where does Daniel fit into the history of the world? History can be broken into 5 periods (Matthew 1:17).

1. From creation to Abram.

2. From Abram to David.

3. From David/Solomon to the exile.

4. From the exile to the coming of Christ.

5. Everything after the coming of Christ.

What are some main themes of Daniel?

1. God protects his people in their faithfulness.

2. God rules over all kings and kingdoms of the earth.

3. God directs all history to accomplish his purposes.

How is God working in the book of Daniel?

Exile.

Babylon.

Why would we think Daniel has a positive attitude toward a pagan city?

1. The language of the book.

2. The heart of Daniel toward Babylon.

3. The evidence of GodÂ’s sovereignty.

4. The last words of the kings of Babylon.

Why would we think Daniel has a positive attitude toward exile?
