Worship and the Scriptures
Psalm 86:11-12

1. There is no right worship apart from God’s Word

Psalm 119:97; 1 Tim 4:6-7; Matthew 4:4; Rev 1:3

1.1. The Word of God gives us wise counsel; 2 Tim 3:16-17

1.2 The Word of God gives us Warnings; Psalm 19:11

1.3 The Word of God gives us promises to feast on; Psalm 94:19

So what are we to do?

Let us read and study the Scriptures.

Let us meditate on God’s Word; Josh 1:8

Let us Rejoice in God’s Word; Jer 15:16

2. There is no right understanding of God’s Word apart from the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

2.1 All Spiritual Benefits come through the Spirit

2.2 We need the Holy Spirit to convince us of the authority of the Bible

2.3 The Scriptures make us wise because of the Spirit of Wisdom

2.4 The Scriptures bring us comfort because the Holy Spirit is the comforter.

So what are we to do?

Pray for the Spirit; Luke 11:9ff.

Do not grieve the Spirit, but submit to Him.
