Sermon Outline

The Lordship of Christ Over All Creation
Col 1.15-17

1. What does the text say about Jesus?

Jesus is God.
[2 Co 4:4; Philippians 2:6; Hebrews 1:3; John 1:1, 18 See also John 10:30, 38; 14:9; Rev 3:14. ]

Jesus is before all things in both time and rank
Ex 4:22; Jeremiah 31:9 Proverbs 8:22

Jesus is the sphere in which all creation took place

Jesus is the agent of creation

Jesus is the end of creation
[Ps 119:91; 104:27]

2. Why does the Scripture make this emphasis?

3. How does this text call me to live and think differently?

Since Jesus is Lord of all creation, we, as his people, are stewards of that creation

Since Jesus is Lord of all creation, all work is good work
John 17:15

Since Jesus is Lord of all creation, we ought to demonstrate love to all people.

Since Jesus is Lord of all creation, we will give attention to the head as well as to the heart.

Since Jesus is Lord of all creation, I hope that he is working in my own life to redeem me.
