Sermon Outline

Steadfastness in the Life of Daniel

1. The basis of a steadfast hope is an understanding of the temporary nature of all things that pretend to be lasting

1 Corinthians 4:7

7 For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?

2. Hope in God grants us steadfastness when our lives are on the line

Daniel purposed not to defile himself. How many people have compromised what God has said just to avoid losing an opportunity? 1:8ff

Daniel refused to “spin” the truth. He has the pleasure of telling the king that his kingdom will fall and be replaced by an inferior one. 2:36ff

Daniel’s steadfastness encouraged his friends not to compromise. They refused to worship a false god. 3:15ff

Daniel’s steadfastness continued into his old age. He refused to stop worshipping God openly. 6:10ff

3. Experiencing God’s deliverance in this life solidifies our hope for the life to come

This hope we have because of Christ, alone.
