The Hope of Change Found in the Resurrection of Jesus
Mark 15:42-16:8
 
1.  There is no resurrection without a death 15:42-47
 
            What evidence do we have that Jesus truly died?
 
1a.  The witness of the centurion, a professional executioner. 
 
1b.  The flight of the disciples confirms that Jesus was dead. 
 
1c.  Joseph and Nicodemus step up to bury the body. 
 
1d.  Mark mentions the women who witnessed the preparation and the burial. 
2.  This death brings us hope because there was a resurrection. 16:1-8
 
            What evidence do we have of Jesus’ resurrection?
 
2a.  The open door.
 
2b.  The empty tomb
 
2c.  The Grave clothes. 
 
            But the empty tomb alone does not communicate hope.  We need to hear:
 
 
Rebuke—for a lack of hopefulness
 
 
Revelation—of God through his messenger
 
 
Reminder—of the promises of Christ
 
 
Realization—of the deity of Christ
 
 
Radical—call to trust and obey—
