Thoughts on Thankfulness…
Romans 1:18-23; Philippians 4:10-13; 1 Timothy 6:3-16
Why is ungratefulness such a horrible sin?
1. It denies the Creator/creature relationship.
2. It reveals sinful expectations.
3. It rejects the providence of God.
What can we do to cultivate a spirit of gratefulness in our hearts?
1. Understand that gratefulness is not a natural condition.
2. Understand that gratefulness is a work of grace in the heart.
3. Spend time talking about the blessings of God.
4. Remember that gratefulness expresses itself.
5. Be purposeful in your thankfulness.
6. Model thankfulness for those in your family.
7. Avoid consumerism in attitdue and action.
8. Guard your heart against discouragement while under affliction.
9. Guard your heart against seeking sinful relief while under affliction.
10. Meditate often on the cross of Christ.
