Ministry in the Face of Rejection

Mark 6:1-13

Patterns of opposition:

The Scribes in 2:6-7

1. Rejection of the Prophet of God (1-6a)

Amazed. (2)

Resentment. (3)

Matthew 5:10-12

Matthew 23:27-39

Unbelief

2. Expansion of the Kingdom of God. (7-13)

They take a minimum of supplies. (8-9)

They are to stay in one house, if welcomed. (10)

They are to clearly call people to repentance. (11)

The Gospel redeems the entire person. (12-13)

Lessons learned:

1. Familiarity breeds contempt.

2. Unbelief is a deadly sin.

3. Isolation is not a wise course for any believer.

4. This is not a convenient or comfortable task.

5. The Gospel of Christ is the only hope to escape God’s wrath.

6. We exist to be a part of the ever-expanding Kingdom of God.
