Sermon Outline

What Does Christ Think of the Church?

Ephesians 2:11-22 (and others)

1.  Consider what we were   (11, 12)

2.  Consider what Christ has done  (13-18)

3.  Consider what you are in Christ (19-21)

4.  Consider what you are becoming (22)

The edification and beauty of the church is deeply rooted in the way she is ordered, which sets her in conformity with Christ’s will.

Charge to Deacons:

This is a call to:

            Faithfulness

            Compassion

            Prudence

            Diligence

Charge to Elders:

Be a servant of the chuch

                        By praying

                        By teaching the Word

Be a steward of the mystery of God

            Be an under-rower

The Church has a responsibility, as well:

Esteem the office highly along with those who fill it.

            Demonstrate a Christ-honoring responsiveness.

            Pray for them.
