Money: The Currency of Christian Hedonism

Why not crave money? Because we have a much higher, more important, more valuable calling!

Lu 12:33 "Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.

Is it wrong to be rich or poor? Prov. 30:7-9 There are temptations that are peculiar to being rich and those that are peculiar to being poor.

I Tim. 6:5b-10,17-19

What should the rich do?

1) Don't be arrogant (conceited).

2) Don't set your hope in wealth which is so uncertain, but set your hope in God. Deut. 8:10-14,16-19

3) Be rich in good deeds. 2 Cor. 9:6-8

Living in a war zone -- adopt a wartime lifestyle and mentality.

4) Consider time as well as money. Pr 18:9

Why are the rich to do all these things?

To secure heaven for yourself -- Matt. 6:19-21

To build the kingdom of God -- 2 Cor. 9:6ff

Luke 16:9 And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings.
