1.
Prayer is the pursuit of God's glory. Jn. 14:13-14
a. It magnifies God's power and our dependence.
b. We are commanded to bear fruit, but we are helpless apart from
Christ.
This is the only way we're going to get it done!
2. Prayer pursues the highest joy by asking God for what will bring our greatest happiness. Jn. 16:22-24
a. Prayer is our means of fellowship with
Jesus.
b. Prayer empowers for the mission of
love. Jn. 15:7-8
c. Not all prayer brings us
happiness and brings God glory. James 4:1-4
3. God-honoring prayer sees God as our Servant. Acts 17:24-25
4. We must discipline ourselves to pursue the joy of prayer.
