The Blessings of Christian Work

Ephesians 6:5-9

 

 

1.  The Duty of slaves to their masters

            1a.  the Manner of obedience

obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling,

           

            With a sincere heart

 

            Not by way of eye-service

           

            Doing the will of God from the heartwith a good will

             

 

            1b.  The aim of obedience

            as you would Christas servants of Christas to the Lord, and not to man.

           

1c.  The incentive for obedience.

            v. 8  Knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. 

 

2.  The Duty of masters to their slaves

           

By Way of Application

 

1.  Christ is the center of all things, not me.

           

2.  Life must be lived with an awareness that Gods eye is upon us.

 

3.  The change we long for takes place in our hearts, not our surroundings.

 


 

 

Bible Study Outline

 

Mary and Martha Which One Are You?

 (Luke 10:38-42)

1.  What spiritual gift(s) was Martha attempting to exercise? Shouldnt we all take advantage of opportunities to exercise our spiritual gifts?

 

2.  What was Mary doing during this same time? Shouldnt she have been helping her sister with the preparations for Jesus?

 

3.  What things or situations distract you from focusing on the person and words of Jesus?

 

4.  How did Jesus respond to this friction (jealousy?, hurt feelings?, etc) expressed by Martha toward her sister, Mary?

 

5.  Priorities: Choosing the best over the better. Discuss this with your family.
